Albion were always going to have a mountain to climb during this summer transfer window. Their squad is stacked with immense talent, who will be watched across the world.

Kaoru Mitoma has had his best goalscoring season at the club so far. Scoring over 10 goals for the first time since signing for the Albion back in 2021, it is more than the goals that the Japanese international brings to the club.

João Pedro has returned to the Seagulls with unforgettable memories, scoring the club’s first-ever goal in Europe and delivering vital points in match-winning last-minute goals in the Premier League.

Pedro has been subject to an ‘altercation’ according to reports, and his exit could loom with big clubs sniffing.

Mitoma’s South Coast success

Kaoru Mitoma is a modern Brighton icon and one of the highest quality players the club has ever seen. His first touch has been largely alluded as one of the best in the world, capturing the eyes of fans in unerring fashion.

Mitoma turned 28 as he carried Albion over the line with a dramatic 3-2 win over the Champions, Liverpool. His impact off the bench personified every part of his career in the Premier League. Direct, taking the game to his opponents.

It’s not just on the pitch where Mitoma excels, his mentality is unquestionable. Turning down major money from Saudi Arabia in January takes some doing, but sources close to the player are not surprised at all. The vision is clear for Mitoma, to become the very best he can be. Never losing focus, and always improving.

The Japanese’s impact has been immeasurable. Forming a direct link between club and country, causing an influx of fans towards the Amex just to get a glimpse. The true sign of a superstar.

Meanwhile, João Pedro…

João Pedro’s Brighton career will go down as somewhat tainted after recent weeks with media briefings. Mixed messages between ‘altercations’ being done or not done will remain to be seen.

What can be said by Talk Seagulls is that he has been one of the most impactful signings in Brighton recent history. Amongst a time when players have been signed for pennies and shifted for millions, Pedro was the first of the new big-money moves.

The £30 million signing has returned 30 goals in 70 appearances, including some incredible memories in the process, as we mentioned last week.

Huge clubs set for huge bids

Both FC Bayern München and Chelsea are interested in Kaoru Mitoma and João Pedro respectively.

Bayern’s interest in Mitoma has been confirmed by German Sky sources, who claim the player has indicated a will to join the Bundesliga giants. Since being handed a blow in their pursuit of Florian Wirtz from brother club Bayer Leverkusen, they could turn their attention to our Japanese star.

Mitoma has always pledged the idea to only move to play Champions League football, and the attraction of playing for a potential competition favourite could prove too much to keep hold for another season.

Chelsea have reportedly ‘opened talks’ with João Pedro, according to sources in Brazil. Albion will demand an extensive fee and could deter the Blues from another raid of the South Coast.

It is no secret that Chelsea need a new forward, and João Pedro would undoubtedly strengthen those ranks.

Fans will live in hope that at least the latter doesn’t materialise, due to the modern ‘rivarly’ with the West London club.
