Yasin Ayari ‘unsure’ on his future beyond the Summer Transfer Window

Yasin Ayari has emerged as one of the stories of the season after a successful campaign at the Seagulls.

However, interviews back in his homeland suggest he could be open to a move if something comes along this summer.

What did Ayari say?

Yasin Ayari praised the club before continuing his concerns:

“As I always said, Brighton is a fantastic club. I really enjoy it there. It’s been going well.”

Ayari has become a regular starter at the club during 2024/25, despite going into the season as a player on the fringes of the squad. Relatively unsuccessful loan spells at both Coventry and Blackburn Rovers were not a linear guideline for the impact he could bring to Albion. Coming off the back of a very impressive pre-season, Ayari earned the right to the Albion first team.

Scoring two impressive goals against West Ham and Liverpool rounded off a strong first full season for the Swede. His dynamic movement in midfield impressed head coach Fabian Hürzeler, who opted for him more often than £25 million Mats Wieffer in that position.

Ayari is a player with a lot of potential and, with a bit more muscle, could become a very well-rounded midfielder at Premier League level.

He went on to say:

“Right now, I feel happy where I am. But you never know in the future. I always want to play in the best clubs and fight for the biggest trophies.”

“My gut feeling says no idea [on beyond this summer].”

Ayari was asked what he wants for himself and whether his agent has signalled any interest from elsewhere.

“You always want to challenge yourself. But I am safe where I am now and then we will see what happens,”

The possible exodus of 2025

Whether or not he elects to stay at the club, it adds to the pool of potential outgoers for Albion this summer. Matt O’Riley, Pervis Estupiñan, João Pedro, Kaoru Mitoma, and now Ayari have all been linked for moves away this summer window.

In a season that would be in desperate need of stability, Albion could do without any more outgoing movement if they are to steer clear of another season under transition and uncertainty. The Seagulls have shown proof that they can reach the heights of the top level of English and European football, but fans would much rather see that process happen rather than fade into wasted potential for profits.

Diego Coppola, Charalampos Kostoulas, and Stefanos Tzimas, are all set to join Brighton ahead of the new season. Tariq Lamptey has additionally signed a further one-year-deal.
